Staff Food
What did the staff eat and what did it cost?
Arley Hall was rebuilt between 1755 and 1763. During this period a skeleton staff continued to live in some corner of the Hall. The following sheets list their food and what it cost each year from 1758 to 1761 inclusive. Also listed are the people who ate it. In addition to this they no doubt had vegetables from the garden, milk from the farm and a share of the beer brewed each month in the house. See Seven Households, pp 202 - 5, for a discussion of this and pp 209 - 11 for pictures of the old and the new Arley Hall.
